November is traditionally the month when we remember the Holy Souls and in addition to remembering our dearly departed at daily Mass in the Parish, a number of other commemorative ceremonies took place during the month.
2nd November – Mass for All Souls Day was celebrated in St Patrick’s Church, Lisbane when a large congregation from within and outside the parish joined Fr Neeson for this annual Mass in the old church at Lisbane.
7th November – a Remembrance Service was conducted by Fr Neeson at the War Graves in St Joseph’s Graveyard at Ballycran. Parishioners and visitors joined the Air Cadets from Regent House, Newtownards to remember the pilots who are buried in our parish graveyard.
13th November – the annual Mass for the Bereaved was celebrated in St Mary, Star of the Sea Church and Fr Neeson was joined by families and friends of those who died and were buried in the Parish during the year. Family members had the opportunity to light candles during the Mass to remember their deceased loved ones.
16th November – St Joseph’s GAC, Ballycran held their annual Mass to remember deceased members of the club. Fr Neeson celebrated the Mass in McKenna Community Centre along with club members and their families and friends.
