The annual St Brigid’s ‘Rush Party’ took place in The Old School House in Ballycran on the evening of Thursday 28th January 2016. A band of willing volunteers gathered armed with rushes, scissors, string, rubber bands and their expertise to make St Brigid’s Crosses for the parish in preparation for the feast day of Saint Brigid on the 1st of February.
The crosses were blessed at the morning Mass in St Mary Star of the Sea on 1st February by Fr Ronan Grimshaw, who was covering for Fr Neeson, and these were then distributed throughout the parish. Many thanks to all those who made the crosses for the Parish both on the night and at home and also to those who provided the rushes.
May the blessing of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit be on this cross, on the place where it stands and on every one who looks at it. Amen.
