05. Churches Reopen for Private Prayer ~ 2020

On the 18th May 2020, Bishop Noel Treanor released a statement from the Diocese of Down and Connor indicating that Churches in the Diocese could reopen to allow for private prayer following the easing of the restrictions put in place by the NI Executive.

In line with the guidance on reopening, St Joseph’s Church, Ballycranbeg reopened on Friday 22nd May and a week later, on Friday 29th May, St Mary Star of the Sea Church, Nunsquarter reopened.

The pictures show the restrictions on seating put in place to ensure social distancing in both Churches and also the hand sanitising and cleaning stations provided to ensure those visiting the Churches adhere to good hygiene practices as outlined in the signage placed at the entrances.
