November is the month when we remember the Holy Souls and this was even more important this year due to the restrictions placed on funeral services due to Covid 19.
As is the tradition in the Parish, the November Dead Lists, completed to record and remember the names of our loved ones, were reverently placed in front of the Altars of both our Parish Churches for the month.
Unfortunately, this year it was not possible to have a Mass for the Bereaved to remember those who died in the previous twelve months and their loved ones. However, a memorial was erected in the grounds of St Joseph’s, adjacent to the outdoor Mass Room, where all the names of the deceased were recorded and a Family Prayer Service was held there at dusk on the evening of Sunday 1st November.
Family and friends of those who died during the year were invited to attend and a candle was lit to remember each one of those who died during the year. These candles were kept burring for the month of November.
“May the angels lead you into paradise;
may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city Jerusalem.
May choirs of angels receive you and with Lazarus,
may you have eternal rest.”
