Although the Covid 19 restrictions still affect day to day life in our Parish during 2021, the Liturgical Seasons continued to be remembered and marked during the year and in that way we maintained a sense of normality.
Pictures show the Sackcloth and Ashes arrangements in our Churches for the season of Lent which began on Ash Wednesday.
During March, on the 17th, we remember Saint Patrick, the National Apostle of Ireland, and thankfully we were able to celebrate Masses for the Feast Day in the grounds of St Joseph’s Church; pictures show the large numbers who attended Mass on the Feast Day. We also remembered St Patrick with our traditional side altar with shamrock in St Mary Star of the Sea Church.
On 19th March the Feast of Saint Joseph is celebrated and this year he is being remembered in a special way following the announcement by Pope Francis of a special Year of St Joseph from 8th December 2020 until 8th December 2021. Pictures show the side altars prepared in honour of St Joseph in both our Churches.
