06. Michaela Summer Camp ~ 2019

During the week of 29th July to 2nd August, 60 girls participated in The Michaela Foundation Summer Camp which was hosted in St Mary’s Primary School, Kircubbin. The girls from all three of the Parishes in our Pastoral Area, Ardkeen, Ballygalget and Portaferry, enjoyed the Five Elements of Camp: Faith, Fun, Failte, Fashion and Well-being. There were also a couple of visiting girls from as far away as Canada and Killarney!

The week included lots of singing, dancing and craft activities as well as visitors who came to speak to the Campettes including this year’s Antrim Rose, Orlagh McClinton, Mickey Harte from the Michaela Foundation and our own Ballycran and Down Camog, Catherine McGourty. The visitors all gave very inspiring talks to the girls and there was also a Camogie session with Catherine!

The week all too quickly came to an end and it was fitting that the week concluded with a Mass of Celebration with our Parish Priest, Father Alexander officiating. Following the Mass there was a tea party for the girls and their families.

It goes without saying that the week would not have gone so smoothly without the help of ALL the leaders and volunteers who included the girls from the Michaela Team and leaders from Belfast, Tyrone, Newtownards and Kilcoo as well as our own volunteers from our Pastoral area. Many thanks to them all.
