The Month of June every year is the month when the Church traditionally remembers in a special way the Sacred Heart including a Feast Day during the month. This year, despite the restrictions, was no different with both Parish Churches celebrating the month with floral decorations at the Sacred Heart shrines. There is also one of the windows in St Mary Star of the Sea Church dedicated to the Sacred Heart.
The Feast Day of the Sacred this year fell on Friday 11th June and there were two Masses for the Feast Day celebrated in the Parish, The first was in the morning in the grounds of St Joseph’s and the second was an evening Mass in St Mary Star of the Sea. This Mass was very special indeed as it was the first public Mass that has been celebrated there for over a year since the Covid restrictions came into force in March 2020.
The Month of June also saw two special events in the Parish involving our Parish School, St Mary’s. The first was the Sacrament of Reconciliation and First Confession for the Primary 3 children on 18th June. The second event was at the Tuesday evening Mass on 29th June when parishioners were joined by the Primary 7 Leavers, their families and teachers. Following Mass presentations were made to the pupils and there was also an Ice Cream van in attendance to let everyone get a cone before going home.
